Poly-Tech Super Filter is an innovative filtration pad utilizing polymeric media, ferric-oxide-hydroxide, and ionic exchangers in an open fiber matrix to remove a very broad range of chemical waste and pollutants. Poly-Tech Super Filter’s adsorptive, ionic, molecular sieving and mechanical properties create a captive aquatic environment of extreme purity, clarity, and low toxicity. The Poly-Tech Super Filter Professional contains twice as much active ingredients as the standard Poly-Tech Super Filter. These filters remove major toxins including ammonia, organics, nitrates, heavy metals, medications and dyes as well as phosphates and are designed with extremely low impact on trace elements. Poly-Tech Super Filter provides significant aid in maintaining the pristine environment so essential for fish, live corals and live plants while minimizing the labor necessary to achieve great results.

Color changing feature and regenerative capacity
As Poly-Tech Super Filter adsorbs waste, it darkens significantly giving a visual detail of its action. The degree of discoloration depends on the application environment and the prevailing pollutants being captured by the filter. Highly polluted tanks will show a greater degree of discoloration. A powerful feature of the Poly-Tech Super Filters is that they can be easily regenerated using a simple table-salt solution! Each regeneration significantly restores filter capacity. Many of the compounds such as phosphates and very reactive organics get permanently locked within the filter so restoring the original color may not be possible.

Regeneration instructions
When filter becomes substantially discolored, first rinse well under running tap water, and then prepare regenerative brine solution by dissolving ½ cup of table salt in ½ gallon of very warm tap water. Pour 2 cups of brine solution into a shallow pan or dish and soak filter for a few minutes. Dip filter in and out of brine solution 5 or 6 times allowing solution to fully drain out of the filter each time. Discard dirty solution and repeat 3 more times until the whole ½ gallon of brine is used up. Rinse filter under running tap water and return back to service. Each regeneration restores up to 75% of filter capacity. Poly-Tech Super Filters can be regenerated up to 6 times, and then should be replaced. For optimal performance weekly regeneration is recommended.

Suggested applications for high flow active filtration
Poly-Tech Super Filters can be cut with regular scissors and are easy to work with across many applications. In a wet-dry filter cut to fit across the pre-filter tray or cut and place it over the top of pre-filter sponge. In hang on the back power filters cut to match the size of filter cartridge or sponge insert. In canister filters cut to cover the entire area of the filter basket or tray. Use separate pieces to fill the entire tray area without water bypass. Stack multiple layers instead of sponges for outstanding chemical and mechanical filtration. In nano tanks cut to size of cartridge or sponge.

PURA Complete is a blend of GFH; reef type macro-porous select grade bituminous carbon with a high abrasion number and low ash content specifically designed for aqueous phase filtration; and a top grade zeo-sorbent with a high cation exchange capacity for ammonia and heavy metals. This product will remove a very broad range of organic waste like urine, phenols, coloring agents, odors, and proteins; a very broad range of heavy metals like copper, lead, and mercury that accumulate over time from trace quantities found in all fish foods; a very broad range of toxins like medicinal residues, ammonia, formaldehyde and arsenic. PURA Complete will also remove large quantities of aquarium scum promoters like phosphates and silicates and stress promoters like decomposing food by-products. This is the product of choice for advanced reef, marine, and fresh water hobbyists, combining top performing ingredients, broad spectrum chemical filtration activity, low cost, and a fantastic performance to price ratio. PURA Complete is pH-neutral and is used just like carbon. PURA Complete is ideal for canisters, filter bags, and corner filters. Composed of Beta-GFH, Reef grade carbon, and a high capacity cation exchanger, PURA Complete by itself does the work of multiple specialty media with far greater effect and much lower cost.

Beta-GFH, the same high grade as used in PhosLock, permanently removes phosphates and silicates. This best ingredient never leaches the adsorbed phosphates or silicates back into the aquarium as other types of media do. Your aquarium will grow less scum, stay much cleaner, and will be much less labor intensive. The carbon we use is the highest grade available. It is acid washed, phosphate free and pH neutral. Our carbon is 100% virgin bituminous carbon, that means it is specifically manufactured for aqueous phase filtration and not a by-product of industrial processes like many other activated carbons. The small grain size, the highly macro porous structure, and the high abrasion number make this carbon superb for high flow recirculating systems. Our cation exchanger has a CEC (cation exchange capacity) of 1.8 to 2.2, that means it will outperform any mass market brand. In fresh water systems it will remove loads of ammonia, and in salt water systems it will remove toxic heavy metals.
